Bullet How did Tsinghua and INSEAD come together to form an EMBA Programme?

The School of Economics and Management (SEM) of the prestigious Tsinghua University is widely regarded as one of the best business schools in China.

Founded in 1986 to champion the modern management of the Chinese economy, the Tsinghua SEM is well positioned to help the Chinese economy move ahead in the international arena. As the Chinese economy has become more integrated into the world economy, Tsinghua SEM’s research and teaching has also broadened its reach to international business management. Tsinghua SEM has chosen INSEAD as a premier partner to provide training for executives from different markets, and this EMBA programme is the move to combine the expertise of both Tsinghua SEM and INSEAD to forge an international programme for Asia’s business community.

INSEAD, devoted to be The Business School for the World, is a natural partner for Tsinghua’s international ambition. This joint programme is an important step for INSEAD to leverage its fully-fledged Asia campus in Singapore and is an ambitious development from its established EMBA programme. Tsinghua’s unique cultural heritage and research in a dynamic economy would also complement INSEAD’s long-held expertise in international management.

Both Tsinghua and INSEAD find it a perfect opportunity to join hands for such a programme, which also heralds a good start for a more comprehensive teaching and research cooperation in the future.

Bullet How different is this joint programme from the current EMBA programmes of the two schools?

The joint programme is a combination of the expertise of the two schools. It is designed for leaders in the Asia-Pacific region, through its content, connections, and operations.

The INSEAD EMBA will continue to be a global programme based at INSEAD’s Europe campus in Fontainebleau, while Tsinghua University’s own EMBA programme is based in China. Participants of all three programmes of the two schools will have the chance to convene both on campus and through the two schools' activities. This also reflects both schools’ commitment to diversity, not only in terms of culture, but also in terms of international experience and management skills.

The tuition fee for the joint programme is positioned between that of the two current EMBA programmes.

For both schools, the motivation for working together is based on education and strategic goals. We will be able to benefit from shared teaching resources, research cooperation, case writing, student exchanges, and new market penetration, just to name a few areas of cooperation in a close partnership.

Bullet Do I need to be able to speak French at INSEAD's Europe Campus or Chinese at Tsinghua's Campus?

No. English is the language of instruction throughout the programme. You will of course have plenty of opportunities to improve your Chinese and French (or other) language abilities if you wish!
